News Archive of Korea
Some people make headlines while others make history. This is the newsarchive of the greatest country on earth – Korea. We want to keep these old news with us. Maybe because history never looks like history when you are living through it. It can also be because otherwise your belly button might make an echo.

10/07/08> New world!
What a shituation! Everybody's talking about McBush, Billary and Obamania... Didn't you learn from Wikidemia that there is already a new King in town? Yep, and he will build a new colorful world for all of you. King of Korea, Aki-Pekka Sinikoski has worked hard with Helsinki Biennale 2008. It will be a World Fair and take place at Helsinki Design Museum from October 25th til December 31th. It will be über gigantic! More than 50 most interesting artists from Finland and over 100 of our favorite artists from abroad. The new Helsinki Biennale website will be launched July 15th. So be sure to check that one out at www.helsinkibiennale.com.
We have also freshed up Korea's website. You can find a lot of new photos by Aki-Pekka Sinikoski in the work section.
Korea – Thrice as good than cheap American copies!
22/05/08> Merci beaucoup, Monsieur Korea
No, merci for you! And if your boyfriend really thinks that women are from Venus and men are from Mars I think that he is a dog from Planet Hell. Me King, why you hot dog. If you are staying in Helsinki on May 23rd and feel like a dancing rottweiler you should come to the legendary Kipsari Club (Hämeentie 135) where King of Korea, Aki-Peki is playing fat beats and crazy tunes with his Superkasi fellow Matti. The whole royal family of Korea is coming so why don't you!
There has been a lot of interesting projects lately: after Germany and Poland the Square Minutes -posse had their first show here in Finland. The exhibition took place from April 17th to May 11th in Lahti. Aki-Peki has also started to curate, produce and make visuals for the next Helsinki Biennale. We tell you more details about it soon, but already now we can proudly tell you that it will take place in Design Museum in Helsinki. We can't unfortunately tell you more about couple of really interesting photo projects Peki is working on right now, but as soon as we can show them you will love them... Meanwhile you can check some new portraits from Work section. There you can also find a poster Peki did for Akava with marketing and advertising agency Family inc.
Au revoir mes amis!
22/01/08> Trio Korea
Ooh la la! It's 2008 and we are doing better than ever! First things first. We are happy to tell you that the population of our Kingdom of Korea has grown 50 % during last month. Five weeks ago we got a third citizen when the King of Korea, Aki-Peki and his wife Jessica got a beautiful daughter. King Peki is now back at Superkasi studio after the month that he stayed at home in the palace playing with his girls. Despite this important mission he has had time to make new works e.g. for NessiHoviShop, Patentti- ja Rekisterihallitus, Rautaruukki, Suosikki, and TaiK.
Year 2008 will be great! We promise to be pretty colorful, a little bit black and a little bit white, a little bit populist and a little bit pop. Slightly dada and 100 % brilliant!
Korea – the Hotest Trio in Business! Family Business...
23/11/07> Hits like MC Hammer!
Jessica Sinikoski started to work as an adviser at Nordic Culture Point in August, a cooking point for Nordic cultural co-operations. The institution was established this year at Sveaborg in Helsinki under the auspices of the Nordic Council of Ministers. Now she has worked last two weeks with practical stuff here in the palace of Korea. That's because we are waiting a brand new citizen appearing anytime to our beautiful country! We can really soon tell you more details about this mission called Trio Korea.
Meanwhile you got to see really great works that Aki-Pekka Sinikoski have done! First of all there is a brand new green square in the work category for the photos he did for new Rajaton album titled Maa. Photos are taken from the space between ground and the melting ice. It was great to notice that one of the photos were used as a huge print on a local bus here in Helsinki. There are updates also in the portrait section. Be sure to check them out!
See you soon!
04/09/07> Peki is the new black!
There have been a lot of great projects around during this summer! In the beginning of the summer Peki took part in three group exhibitions in Helsinki, Lodz (Poland), and Leipzig (Germany). In August he did a small exhibiton together with his friend Juliana Harkki from Super8. This exhibition took place at Luft in Helsinki and it was a part of Art Goes Kapakka festival. Via Image Maker Aki-Peki has made photos for Ruukki for information and marketing purposes. As a part of Image Maker he also did the presentation visuals for Clima 2007 conference held in the middle of June at Finlandia talo together with Matti "Superkasi" Riikonen and Sami Smith. For the visual consept of UMF 2007 he once again worked with Matti and Tom "Musta Kirahvi" Backström. For Suosikki he photgraphed cover+many other pics for the 30 pages Ganes special. He also did a Ganes cover for Episodi mag. Some of his Ganes photos will also be seen later this Autumn as a part of the exhibition about Finnish movies at Lasipalatsi. Next Suosikki will include a poster and almost 20 pages stuff made just by him. Some of his theater posters created for Kokoteatteri are now included in the brand new KokoTeatteri anthology published by LIKE.
We have updated almost the whole work section on our website. Be sure to check it out! And last but not least we want you to notice that you can find a sneak preview of Peki's forthcoming fashion collection in the portrait gallery. This beautiful folio dress is joining the dots between Paris, Milano, and Helsinki. Peki is the new black!
9/05/07> Another towering triumph from the house of ideas!
Big blasting ideas and Korea is a match made in heaven. It's my big pleasure to tell you that the King of Korea Aki-Pekka Sinikoski has built new thrills, new exhibitions and new surprises for you! This summer he will present his works in four different exhibitions. The first one will take place next week in Helsinki. The exhibition is made by the same group that he did an open air exhibition with at Eerikinkatu, Helsinki. The new "out of gallery" exhibition will also take place in Helsinki. It will be shown nonstop on lcd screens in tram number six during May. Aki-Peki's works can be seen between May 14th and 20th. The following exhibition will be at May 17th –27th at Ars Nova Gallery in Lodz, Poland. You can find more information about it on their website at http://www.fotofestiwal.com. Another super-spectacular exhibition will take place June 20th –24th 2007 in Leipzig, Germany at the International Photography Festival. It's organized by a young team of curators, academics, editors and artists that work in the non-profit, artistic sector. You can visit their website at http://www.f-stop-leipzig.de. The fourth exhibition will take place later this summer in Helsinki. More about that soon! There are also a lot of great projects under progress, so be sure to keep your eyes on our website and your body on the beach.
Korea - cooler than Finnish summer!
23/04/07> In the between
Ooooh mama! New York trip was super hyper brilliant! A lot of good things happend! We were invited to lovely dinner with Thelma Schoonmaker who is best known as "The Martin Scorseses Film Editer". She wanted to take pictures of us with her second Oscar statue which she won just one week before our meeting. You can find the picture here. Before dinner Thelma took us around their office. It seems to be that Marty have a really great habbit to archive every single detail of his life!
In the way last months have felt that we both have spent time kind of in the between! In between of different cultures, in between of old and new projects. And so on. Jessica finnished huge project with degree ceremony of University of Art and Design Helsinki and started to work now as a marketing coordinator in the same institution. Peki has spent a lot of time preparing exhibitions and other kind of projects. He is going to participate in four different exhibitions during this spring/summer. You can already start warming up your muscles because we are going to tell you more about our ongoing projects really really soon. Meanwhile we warmly recommend dancing!
Viva la Korea Super Family!!!
20/02/07> New site, New York!
Today is a fine day! Love is in the air and sun, o'boy it is shining again! Probably all the dogs in Helsinki took an extra walk today to enjoy the weather. Also Peki and Jessica will leave the office to extend their walks to New York. To tell you the truth they have some other plans for the visit too, but if you'll have openings, parties, or you just want to show them your plastic Statue of Liberty collection: the King of Korea will be in NY between February 21st and March 12th! Feel free to contact them. God bless Korea!
Some of Aki-Peki's works have been published in the Argentinian Ruby Book. Check it out here! During the spring Peki will have his new works in the Square Minutes exhibition. First stop of the exhibition will be May 17th-27th at Galeria Ars Nova in Lodz, Poland. We will tell you the rest of the exhibition spots as soon as they are confirmed.
Last but not the least the thing that some of you may already have noticed: Korea has a brand new website! There’s a ton of great stuff to check out. Later this spring we will as well open our virtual ambassy where you will find our national treasure house with flags, national anthems, royalties, manifestos, marmelades etc.
22/12/06> Hou hou hou!
I'm sitting right now in the train. After writing these lines we will start our well deserved holiday with Jessica. It's going to be good food with friends and families, hiking in the fresh air and mornings without alarm clocks. Helsinki Biennale was really succesful. I'm really happy that I did it. You can find more information about it by clicking here. I also shot the cover photos to the latest Rajaton: ABBA album – that actually sold platinum this week! I have also taken promotion photos to Matila Röhr Productions' next animation movie. I have also been working to different publications like Suosikki, British Airways High Life and Ruby mag. There has also been some huge works that I'm unfortunetly not aloud to tell you more about, yet... That's how it goes. Well, maybe it doesn't matter because there is so many secrets during this time of the year anyway. If you can keep one, I can tell you that my parents' dogs Jenna and Uma will get big bones and a beautiful bed with camouflage pattern.
Merry X-mas to all of you. I hope that all of you can spend some time with your loved ones. I also hope that all of you can gather around our Christmas tree that you can find here: <<<<-- Hih hii!
Best wishes, Peki
28/10/06> Aki-Peki has built a new institution!
Gooswoosh! A lot of good things happening right now! Aki-Peki has built a new institution! The first Helsinki Biennale will take place 10.11.–3.12.2006 at Myymälä2 gallery (Uudenmaankatu 23). To tell you the truth it's going to be blasting when 46 persons from nine Finnish super star studios are presenting their works! As a King of Korea, Aki-Peki invites all the friends of Korea to the Helsinki Biennale opening that will take place Friday 10th November! You will find more information at www.helsinkibiennale.com. All you lazy foxes who wants to jump over the typing; click here and you will be there. Peki hasn't just worked with Helsinki Biennale but on plenty of other things, too. To the next LÄS-magazine he has made a 10 pages photostory about all the studios participating Helsinki Biennale. Also next Suosikki will include his cover + about 15 pages of other photos. We are also happy to tell you that Peki just won Dunderdon T-shirt design competition. His winning design will come out from Dunderdon sometimes next spring. There has been plenty of other things too that we will updated online soon after we are ready with the Helsinki Biennale marathon. Actually we can promise you a brand new website soon! All the best!
05/09/06> Too much is never enough!
It have been crazy busy during the last months: a lot of great commercial works! But because the friends of Korea deserves better, we will not bother you with the commercial stuff this time. We will just add works to our website soon and now instead tell you the fact, that today our King Aki-Peki won Super8 champion KSPR three times in a row in table football! He also beat Matti and Pekka. We are really happy to tell you that now Aki-Peki is the new unofficial champion in the Super8 league. Hip hip hurray!
If you live in Helsinki or if you happen to visit Helsinki soon The Kingdom of Korea warmly recommend you to take a promenade to the street called Eerikinkatu. There is a great street gallery with photos shot by Aki-Peki and his friends. Now, let your fingers do the walking and click here to get a map of all the works exhibited. Here you have the exhibition review by Helsingin Sanomat in Finnish and here are two examples of Peki's exhibited works. And if you wonder if it's worth to fly all the way to the Helsinki to see this street gallery you should trust the Vice King of Korea Sojii Black's opinion:
"Just do it, because you're worth it! At least I'm loving it!"
29/05/06> Kii ki kii!
As you might have heard the legendary bird called Aftonfalk says kii ki kii. And if it is good for him, it's good for everybody! Like a dancing Muhammad Ali our King Aki-Peki have been working in da ring! And when he works it means gold! In the latest Pàp Magazine you can find a six pages art portfolio from him. To the latest issue of teenage magazine Suosikki he has photographed the cover, a one meter wide poster and more than 15 pages other stuff including a wide The Rasmus article. He has also made a 70x50 cm poster for Suosikki's and JC's Miss Farkku Suomi 2006 campaign in co-operation with advertising agency Family Inc. For the school of visual culture of University of Art and Design Helsinki he has designed a promotion t-shirt and just to let you know there is plenty of other stuff on their way out! Some of our loyal Korea fans outside of Finland have asked about the Masters of Arts festival that Jessica has been working with during this spring. And we are happy to tell you that it was blasting! There was about 10 000 visitors and it got a lot of attention in the Finnish television, radio, and newspapers. Kii ki kii Kii ki kii! Keyplayers in da house! And house in da palace and palace in da Korea!!!
Click, click, fun fun: also a lot of fresh stuff available online!
26/04/06> Success etc.
Dear strangers and friends. Life has treated us fantastically because it loves us! The reason is probably because God, happiness, skills, and fortune are standing in our King's posse. Babes and bonanzas: it's time to drop you some fresh fresh, good good, hot hot! First of all the Veikkaus campaign that Aki-Peki and Heli made has now got even more attention. It got a honourable mention at Vuoden Huiput 2005 competition in the category of Image & Illustration. The campaign has earlier won both the MediaFinlandia competition and Hopeajyvä prize at the Kultajyvä competition. Thanks sano Ian Banks!
There has also been some co-laboration inside the Super8 family going on lately. Peki Super8 and Matti Super8 did a newspaper advertisement together to rescue the Baltic sea. You can find the result in the Posters, Design, Wear section. In the section called Art/Kapteeni Naki Archives you can find a new animation from Aki-Peki called All non-secret male shirts in Korea. It is presented online as an animation, but if you keep your eyes open you might find it presented also as book or as 120 single photos in size of 3 x 2 meter each.
Kingdom of Korea – Good shit world wide!
02/02/06> Namba 1
Glory Glory Hallelujah! King of Korea, Mr. Aki-Peki just won the MediaFinlandia 2005 with the campaign he photographed together with Heli "Sweet Harmony" Sorjonen. The winning series was made for Veikkaus in co-operation with TBWA\PHS. Aki-Pekka Sinikoski says that it feels wonderful to win this price, because he and Heli had such a big role in whole campaign. They photographed it, arranged most of the practical things, and were an important part of the planning group during the whole process. They would like to warmly thank all the people they worked with at TBWA\PHS for giving them the freedom and trust to create so much on their own. Freedom and trust is one of the top10 combos on earth! If you get freedom you can follow a vision and you don't need to create a tasteless compromise that looks like it's made by no-one. Nobody loves no-one. Everybody loves someone! When you succeed you get confident and when you are confident you get success! That's the way it works! -You wanted the best, you got the best! The hottest team in the world!
11/01/06> Back seat love 2006!
As my friend Frank puts it: It was a very good year! But you can trust our King when he whispers that 2006 will be even better! Marvelous, spectacular, magnificent, gorgeus, and that kind of things!!! So beware, there will be something extraordinary happening during this year. We'll make you feel like JFK when his birthday cake started to sing Happy Birthday Mr. President!!! But that's later this year. Peki finally had time to finish his BA at the UIAH and he did three portfolios and one book (click HERE for pictures) for the promotion day. He has already continued his master studies at UIAH at the same time as he is working at Superkasi studios for 12 points art, better world, WOW projects, wide smiles and happier customers. Some of Aki-Peki's works has just been published in the Bulgaria Magazine's Finland issue that has been sent to all the important places and people in Europe. (Some pics HERE) And what about Sojii Black?!? Oh yeah you gentle and ladiesmen! She is doing great as always! Jessica loves to dance and she just decided to catch the groovier rhytm. She has just moved forward: In the near future you will find her producing fancy and mindblowing festivals and ceremonies at UIAH. Oh yeah. You got the right picture: From now on the limousine will ride in the mornings with all of our citizens from the palace to Arabia – the Helsinki Desing City. That means we can drink a second cup of morning coffee together in the back seat!
21/11/05> Let us be your C-vitamin!
Oh boy! It's winter again. Cold around the clock and dark after 4 pm. It's just amazing how we seem to have lost all the colors during the time before snow. It feels great to behave like an orange when we have a lack of light & colors outside! We are happy to welcome you to our new website. And it's all hand made just for you by our King Aki-Peki. There is a lot of new stuff online. Some new art series and a lot of fresh stuff in the work section including the Veikkaus pictures that just won Hopeajyvä at the Kultajyvä advertisement competition. During the last two years that we have had our website online, we have received a lot of positive mail, e-mails, and even gifts from people all over the world. We would like to thank all of you!!! You are the best!! There have also been a couple of frequently asked questions that you seem to wonder about somewhere out there: 1. What is Korea? 2. How many citizens do you have in your nation? To the both questions you can now find the answer in the main menu under the news section. During the last months both Peki and Sojii have worked with projects that are still classified secret. We can't really tell you more about those things at the moment, but trust us, there is good things happening right now! And as always you will be first to know about them! Take care sweethearts!
24/10/05> Thanks for Hopeajyvä!!
On Friday the King of Korea Aki-Pekka Sinikoski won Hopeajyvä at the Kultajyvä advertisement competition together with Heli Sorjonen. The winning series was made for Veikkaus in co-operation with TBWA\PHS. Kultajyvä is the oldest and one of the most important advertisement competitions in Finland. We were really happy to win this price, because we had a big role in whole campaign. We photographed it, arranged most of the practical things, and were an important part of the planning group during the whole process. We would like to thank warmly all of you at TBWA\PHS for giving us freedom and trust to create so much on our own. We would also like to thank you and the people at Veikkaus for publishing the whole campaign as such a huge thing. The biggest advertisement was 28 pages in a row in issue 36/05 of Urheilulehti. That is probably the widest promotion in Finland's history in one magazine! You can find our pictures at the Kultajyvä exhibition. That is in Helsinki, Bio Rex, Lasipalatsi (week 43), in Tampere, Finlayson (week 44), and in Lahti, Taidepanimo 17.11.2005. Ok, that's all folks! There will probably be a new website design after a month. Fresh stuff and good shit world wide, once again!
09/10/05> We make you fat fat!
...And you make us happy! Thanks for all fan mail that we have received during last months from all around the world. You makes us feel so good! Special greetings goes to Bergen, Barcelona, Hong Kong, and Stockholm! While King of Korea Aki-Peki is working with about thousands of projects we give you a real gastronomical pearl: a recipe for Karelian Hot Pot (Karjalanpaisti). For four persons you have to get this: 300 g chuck steak, 300 g pork shoulder, 300 g stewing lamb or mutton, 2-3 onions, 1 1/2 tsp salt, 8 allspice, and water. Cut the meat into cubes (4x4 cm). There is no need to remove small bones. Put the meat and coarsely chopped onion in layers in a casserole, seasoning each layer with salt and allspice. Add enough water to almost cover the meat. Bake without a cover at a moderate temperature, c. 175 °C, for 2 1/2-3 hours. Cover the casserole towards the end of the cooking time. Serve with mashed potato, boiled swedes, and lingonberry puree on a golden Korea plate. Ok sweethearts, red meat forever never!
04/09/05> Super Korea Suomi Finland
There is a lot of good things happening right now. Aki-Peki has just joined the Super8 collective in Kallio, Helsinki. He has just moved in his stuff with the help of a white horse and a golden wagon. We warmly recommend this means of transport to all of you in these days of expensive oil. And by the way horses are glorious! We love them as you love the King of Korea, Monsieur Aki-Peki! Last week the palace of Korea received the news, that the advertising campaign Peki and Heli did for Veikkaus together with PHS, beat 1300 other campaigns in the Mediafinlandia competition!!! Our Veikkaus campaign was selected to the grand finale together with three other campaigns. The winner will be released in January 2006. We are also happy to tell you that The Aki & Naki Show in the Isle of Sheep festival (www.isleofsheep.net) was blasting, bash, brilliant, and beautiful. Everybody seemed to love him/them. We have received plenty of positive superlatives and love letters after the gig. For example Sojii's sister danced like in fever. In the morning she realized, that the second pointer from her watch had fell off!!!
01/08/05> Fabulous Souls!
Slow down baby, slow down. Even slower. Sometimes it's good to stop running and just listen to yourself, the wind in trees, and spend your days swimming with your friends in clear water. King Aki-Peki has just come back to the palace from a camping trip in the arcipelago of Åland with his mates. It's the favourite month of our dear leader, Aki-Peki and I can promise you that he will spend a lot of time outdoors and under the cloudless sky full of stars. It would be awfully wrong to work inside on nights like this. ...and don't forget to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables with tons of vitamins, because you will need extra energy when King of Korea will make the first Aki & Naki Live Show August 27th at the Isle of Sheep Festival on Lammassaari, Helsinki. All the best to all of you fabulous souls. Let the sun shine to your hearts! New stuff from St. Petersburg will be online sooner than later: before is after when you go up, down left, right. Yes, we know, we are allways right!!!
28/06/05> Goodbye June!
King of Korea, Aki-Peki himself, just arrawed back to Finland from St. Petersburg and Barcelona to chill in the palace of Korea after more than three weeks of continious traveling and working. The places and the works he made were pretty different: In St. Petersburg our king lived in a children's home that was located far outside the underground railway system. During the day time Aki-Peki worked in the Ostrov 3 -center that works with local street kids + kids with social problems. Later there will be document pics and one project he worked with in co-operation with these children. Last ten days Peki spent in Barcelona, working at the Sonar festival. Barcelona was once again great! Hot, chilly and inspireing! Sojii aka. Jecci continues her succes!!! Now it is confirmed that she will start as a promotion chief in the Retretti Art Centre which is one of the largest art centres in the Nordic region. She will work mainly in her office in Ullanlinna, Helsinki but also in the heart of Finnish lakeland in Punkaharju. But don't worry my dear fellows! She will continue her good work also in the palace of Korea and we will continue our fight for the better world and good shit. We shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight on the hills. We shall never surrender.
23/05/05> Summer Plans of Korea 2005
Tsigi tsigi, it ain't easy being this good!! You said white men can't jump!?! Maybe, but the fact is that King of Korea donkkaa tykimmin. Aki-Peki, the master himself bought yesterday a new basketball and as a witness I can tell you that he has to be a reincarnation of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. These times have been really succesfull at the palace of Korea. Our super producer, Sojii aka. Jecci has got a lot of thanks about Masters of Arts 2005-festival that she has worked with this spring. It's open untill 27th May at UIAH (hämeentie 135 C, Helsinki) and definetly worth to visit! After the large Veikkaus campaign together with advertisement agency TBWA\PHS Peki has been concentrating on his art projects and some smaller projects, (for example a four page graffiti piece to Suosikki together with Paleface.) In the beginning of June Peki is heading to St. Petersburg to continue a project he started four years ago in Ostrov 3 -center that works with local street kids. In the middle of June he is going down to Barcelona. It's going to be a lot of sun, good vibes and working with big heart (as usual). Take care sweethearts!!!
23/04/05> Greetings from Jurmo
After touring Finland (Helsinki, Tampere, Kuopio, Rovaniemi, Tornio, Pietarsaari, Valkeakoski, Myllykoski, Vantaa, Lahti, Kotka, and Turku) your faithful leader, Mr. Aki-Peki has just returned from Jurmo, Åland where he photographed the last photos to Veikkaus' 2005 campaign together with Ms. Heli Tutu-Tulle. The whole campaign is made in co-operation with PHS advertisement agency. There is a lot of great stuff going to be released 23rd April at Finnair Football Stadium. The stadium will be crovded by a lot of celebs and that kind of... stuff. Pretty much commersial work have been around during the last months, but of course we in KOREA have been stars in UG too! Quite many nice projects are going on right now! For example are we pleased to tell the happy news to all of you Norwegian fans of KOREA! King kong Peki has worked with his new soundblast Aki og Naki. This wonderful spectacle is an absolutely briliant combinations of dualism: Two turntables, two pots of coffee, two persons in one boy. The whole thing is going to be broadcasted via Transformator soundsystem in a couple of weeks.
Digi Luu Digi Lei, Mayday Mayday!
08/03/05> Never say never! (if never is smaller than 12)
Sunshine sweathearts! You never get bored of the sun after a long dark winter! We have worked with a lot of very interesting projects during last weeks. One of them is a large promotion campaign for Veikkaus in co-operation with PHS advertising agency. Another interesting one was a four pages surrealistic horror collage spectacle made for the teenage lifestyle mag Suosikki. The whole story was written together with Toni Wirtanen/Apulanta. Yeah... and some of you might remember Sojii a.k.a. Jecci from older news... one of the main players in the palace of Korea. She has done a great job on many fields. Now she has become the assistant producer of the Masters of Arts festival at the University of Industrial Art and Design Helsinki. Korea 12 points!
10/02/05> Bangladesh busy, Helsinki hectic!
It's a hard day's night and I'm working like a robocop! As you old fans can notice KOREA web site has a new design. Peki, the King himself, has just finished a great work together with Heli Tutu-Tulle for the Finnish state owned mailing company, Posti. There is a lot of new stuff on the art section and fresh things going on. Have a good time and don't forget to eat oranges or other c-vitamin suprises! C U soon!
21/12/04> The King is Back in Town!
Big news!!! King of Korea, Aki-Peki, is going to move his palace back to Helsinki by the end of December!!! After all the success in Bergen Peki is going to continue his work in Helsinki but he is still going to continue his colaboration in Bergen in plenty of different projects. Last night I heard him talking with Monsieur Stiletti about starting a new radioshow called Kapteeni Näsi in the near future, while Spiidumannen (the radio show that uses a dolphin based broadcasting technolgy) is forced to take a break waiting for the next free period when Dolphin Leo is not busy with research work. Another topic in last nights meeting was also to go deeper into fashion. There seems to be so many big things going on that I can promise you we will be busy beavers next year!
00/00/04> Spiidumannen loves banana!
Just when you thought The Spiidumannen has disappeared in the depth of the Atlantic, it returns to strike you straight in the face like a stocking full of porridge! The world's first, only, and best radio show sent via a dolphin got its name from the bottom of Finland's laziest swimmer and got its power from the waves of the Atlantic. The last co-operation with Monsieur Stiletti, Bananasplitz, and Leo the dolphin in six months!!! Bright lights, big hairs, DiscoGlitterSchlagerHop, and an overdose of coffee. You drink, we talk!!! Smärtha-Louise is a hell of a lousier royalty than we are!!! We are both your king and your kong. We are the kingkongs of sound!!! Yours world widely December 18th from 6 pm til at least 9 pm +1 GMT together with Monsieur Stiletti and Peki Bananasplitz. For deeper knowledge and understanding of dolphin based radio sendings check out www.transformatorlyd.com.
00/00/04> U-turn from the doors of Landmark
We have sad news to all of you that had travelled all way to Bergen to see 8 bit box in Landmark tomorrow. Landmark, the center point of alternative music and culture in Bergen suddenly went bankrupt and will be closed down today, Friday 10th December! So 8 bit box gig on Saturday 11.12 in Landmark is cancelled. We had now worked hard to figure out some other place to play. Now we have got an invitation to have our concert in BEK-studio. Whole concert is going to recorded by TRNS FM which will broadcast it live. Broadcasting will begin at 8 PM (Norwegian time) with DJ-stuff and 8-bit box concert will start 9 PM. 00/00/04> Tipetipe tip tap!
Everything that shines ain't gold: It can also be margarin on your skin! Grease baby! The exhibition opening that Aki-Peki had last Friday was like Le marmelade bon bon! There was a lot of guests and good vibes (...yeah and briliant paintings as you without doubt expected!!!) During the next days there will be a lot of stuff from the exhibition in the art section. December 11th Peki is going to play with his gameboy band 8-bit box at Transformator's Christmas tree special at Landmark in Bergen together with Fokuda. See you there fellows and don't forget to check our news archive to get all the details of the fortcoming radio show December 3rd. Meanwhile you can check a screen version of the super lo-fi camouflage machine Peki has created for the Korean fabric factory!
00/00/04> O'Boy!
The world's most famous people from Porvoo living in Bergen, Petri Stiletti and Peki Bananasplitz, proudly present Radio Transformator available on the internet on Friday December 3rd at 18:00-21:00 +1 GMT (so in Finland that is 19.00-22.00 and so on...) The project can be heard all over the world at the same time and it has got a lot of attention in both Norwegian and international medias.
"The project started three years ago when I started working as a dolphin scientist at the Sea laboratory in Bergen. The whole thing began from a simple idea from Peki, to replace the sonic sensor of the dolphin satellite transformator with a radio wave sensor that also can be used underwater, tells Petri Stiletti. Every radio program is sent via satellite signals to a dolphin called Leo's sensor, that has been created for scientic purpose. This sensor changes the signal into frequencies that our friend in Stavanger is capable to recieve. He is converting this signal in realtime into a digital format, that can be listened to as a normal net radio, Petri explains. Probably it makes no difference for the listener how the sound is created, Peki laughs. But a good show is a good show and we still think the most important thing is, that both we and the dolphins are having a good time, he continues"
00/00/04> BYE BYE BERGEN (and I won't miss your ladies)
FRIDAY 26.11.2004 at C.Sundtsgate 53 (project gallery), 8 pm ----> late! Aki-Peki (ei saa peittää world wide) opens his spectacular Bye Bye Bergen one day exhibition and invites another Finnish hero Petri Stiletti (from Transformator lydsystem) to blow the roof away!!! Beside that, it's going to be a kind of picnic in gallery with pussikalja attitude! Pussikalja = the Finnish tradition to buy a big bag full of beer wherever you go. So be sure you don't run out of beer because the night is going to be long and sweet!!!! So if you are in Bergen on Friday night... YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS ONE! -virker som en billig sjampo!
00/00/04> Nomuttaterveterve!
OUH AAH! First snow have just falled on the mountains that surround Bergen. Beautiful! We are living happy and busy times in the palace of KOREA. King Kong Peki has just builded a robot called Kamara (Lund). A great creature which is making her official debut in spring 2005! Aki-Peki is right now working with a wall painting exhibition: Bye Bye Bergen (and I won't miss your ladies) which is having it's opening 26.11 in a place we still want to keep secret. Stay online for more information! Meanwhile you can check out some posters that we made for Tox together with Pee Stiletti a.k.a. P-Tri. Tox is the experimental part of Detox Bergen, as my leg is the experimental part of my body.
00/00/04> "God damit! This nalkki is almost kiipeli!"
We are sorry to announce that KOREA is not going to give away any passports (or green cards) but we would like to thank all those lovely people who has sent us gifts and other stuff with their application letters!!! Spec. props goes to Margareth from Montreal who already send us her Canadian passport!!! Another great one was Yoko from Kyoto who sent our King Aki-Peki a handmade karate suite! Last Friday when Peki showed his incredable Lotto sculpture in Bergen, he met an old Finnish plumber named Pirkka at the exhibition opening. After Pirkka got a strong electric shock from the Lotto machine he wanted to give the King a C-tape full of his own karaoke recordings with some strange Finnish English lyrics!!! We have sent some of you some brand new design clothes (t-shirts, hoodies, socks...) that Peki has made for One Way/Stockmann.
00/00/04> BBC are so out of the game!!!
Last week BBC made a big number about some tiny news from our lousy imitator North Korea. They thought it would be big news to announce that North Korea blown up a mountain. -Pathetic! Are they amateurs or something? BBC have not wrote a single line about our summer camp for children, where our hopes of future builded a dozen of mountains with their own hands and then blasted them as a homage to our emperor! The Leader Him self Mr. Aki-Peki Sinikoski has been heard saying, that if BBC have no better scoops, they can e-mail directly to our press officer at info[AT]korea[DOT]fi to get the their news spreading to another level!
00/00/04> KOREA saved your summer!!!
Summer is cold and we are hot!!! Our King, Aki-Peki just got his song as the opening track on Daily Muse's cd issue, a 200 examples limited edition with silkscreen printed aluminium covers! Just forget your golden bikinis because there is a lot of new stuff online and even more that are going to be published soon. So if the beach weather is too cold, just stay online or go to the exhibition in Kiasma (29th May - 8th August) where Peki has some of his pictures exhibited.
00/00/04> The Dog Goes Puppy! Peki Goes Kiasma!
My sis, that happens to be a dog, is meeting her fiance in these days. There are going to be hot nights! Rumours tell that he is not just good looking but is also an intelligent and good boy!!! Hurraaah for the lovers!!! OOPS... one more thing... I have some pictures exhibited at Kiasma 29th May-8th August (Taiteilija kuvassa), 4th floor. Korea Times gave full five stars!

He told us that he have also offered to buy the paint for mister W. Bush, so he can paint the white house pink. We are so much part of the world politics nowadays.

King of Korea, a.k.a. Aki-Peki, has during the last weeks worked hard with sonics. Last week He had an installation "15 minutes" together with coreocrapher Per Roar from Oslo and the grandmaster Fast Forward from New York City. It was the first piece ever presented at Visningsrommet, USF after the renovation. Now, only one week later, Aki-Peki strikes again at the same place! He would like to invite you to USF on Friday 7.5.2004 7.30pm when He and his fellows are showing the piece called "Lost Bags". Wonder if He is capable to make an hat trick by beforming on the three first presentation at that faboulous gallery!?!?
00/00/04> How to get swing out of the spring #1
We give you the best trick to get swing out of the spring: Simply take a direct flight to Helsinki City. Take a cab from the airport to Stockmann's department store. Get out of the cab with a champagne glass in your hand - right in front of THE CLOCK. First check the time from Stockmann's clock and right after that from your own Rolex and nod self-confidentialy. Walk slowly while you whistle to Stockmann's OneWay and get yourself the coolest t-shirt this spring designed by King of the Kings, Aki-Pekka Sinikoski. Get your own piece of heaven before it's too late!!!!
p.s. Don't forget to change high fives with your original Korea dealer.
00/00/04> Best Friday!
This Good Friday might be the best Friday in your life. King of Korea have arranged you free live recordings from our Bergen 8-Bit AllStars gig at Borealis festival. Salvation is here to stay!!!
More 8-Bit cream is coming later! My best lo-fi engineers are building a site for you!!!
00/00/04> "It's a beautiful evening!!!"
King of Korea send us a letter written in golden ink. His Impossible Majesty wanted us to give all of you this following information: "Bergen 8-bit Allstars first gig was like black caviar! I felt how the spirit of Olavi Virta suddenly came into me and I played such a touching GameBoy solo that many of the people in the audience started to cry. We are trying to get some live recordings from the consert on the web on Good Friday. I'm chilling a couple of days just flying around with my Concorde but I'll be back in business sooner than you can say daa dirlan dirlan daa!!!!"
00/00/04> We give a consert and a good life!
King of Korea is happy to tell you two good news. The first one is that 27.3.2004 He is playing with his crew Bergen 8-Bit Allstars at the closing gig at the Borealis Festival in Bergen, Norway. Second good news is that He has rescued a talented girl from the streets of Bergen. Her state was critical but after soap and shampoo she is just perfect! The whole nation of Korea wants to welcome Sojii (a.k.a. Allerginen) to our palace.
Big Beats, Sweet Life & Good Shit!
00/00/04> Scandinavian tour has started!!!
Korea Design has moved its office from Helsinki to a new playground. We are building a new treehouse in Bergen, Norway. Until Christmas 2004 the King of Korea, Mr. Aki-Pekka Sinikoski is going to consentrate on art. "We have decided to work next to fish and oil next year. After that we are going to come back to Finland or leave permanently for some casino in Las Vegas." says Mr. Sinikoski. "One thing's for sure: there is a hell of a lot love in the air, so keep your eyes open and your soul online!!!
